Why convert HEIC to JPG?

HEIC is the default photo format on modern iPhones. While it's space-efficient, many Windows apps, web uploads, and printing services do not support it. Converting to JPG makes your photos universally compatible — you can open them anywhere, embed them on any website, and share them without confusion.

How to use this tool

  1. Drop your .heic or .heif file(s) onto the upload area above, or click to select them.
  2. Each file is decoded with libheif inside your browser and re-encoded as a JPG.
  3. Click Download to save the JPG to your device. Convert as many files as you want.

Privacy by design

Most online HEIC converters upload your photos to a server. We don't. imglover loads a WebAssembly version of libheif directly into your browser, so the conversion happens on your machine. Open your browser's Network tab — you'll see no requests carrying your image data.

Frequently asked questions

Why does my iPhone save photos as HEIC?
Apple switched to HEIC (High Efficiency Image Container) starting iOS 11 because it produces files about half the size of JPG at the same quality. The downside is that many Windows applications, websites, and older devices cannot open HEIC files.
Are my photos uploaded anywhere?
No. imglover converts HEIC files directly in your browser using WebAssembly. Your photos never leave your device — we do not have a server that receives them.
Can I convert multiple HEIC files at once?
Yes. Just drop multiple files onto the upload area, or pick several at once. Each file is converted in turn and you can download them individually.
How big can the files be?
On a desktop browser, files up to a few hundred megabytes work fine. On mobile, very large bursts (over ~100 MB) may slow things down depending on your phone.
Will EXIF data (date, location) be preserved?
Most EXIF tags including capture date and camera info are preserved when possible. GPS data may be stripped depending on the source file — you can always inspect the output.
How is this different from converting on iPhone itself?
You can change iPhone camera settings to capture JPG instead of HEIC, but that only affects new photos. imglover lets you convert your existing HEIC library, including photos AirDropped or shared from other people.
